Fall 2014 Parade of Homes – Modernist Lake Cottage in Linden Hills

A showcase for contemporary trends: large format, stone effect, and wood look tiles. This BATC Dream Home by Sustainable 9 Design + Build is available for viewing during the 2014 Fall Parade of Homes, September 6 - 28, Thursdays-Sundays, noon-6pm.

Essential geometric architecture makes this home modest, but still striking

Bauhaus inspired modernist architecture with organic flair – a Dream Home in Linden Hills

This tranquil design uses the latest techniques in green construction, bringing mindfulness to luxury. Featured vendors– Mosa, Viva and Florim– use futuristic technologies like 3d printing and HD ink-jet graphics to create porcelain facsimiles of wood and stone. These wood look and stone effect tiles balance the beauty of natural materials with low-impact production techniques.

Natural variations on a theme in gray

Minimal design makes use of many different grays, finding variety in the natural textures of wood and stone

In the guest bath, you can find Florim Forest in Mystic. This light gray colorway features touchable woodgrain texture.

On view in the master bath, Mosa Terra Tones are rectangular large format tiles that evoke the feeling of stone. This series uses a variety of widths and colors to create rhythm and varied surface textures.

Viva Acustico 12 updates classic terra cotta style, combining it with the finish of raw concrete to make a classic tradition new. These porcelain tiles are durable enough for the three-season porch of this 5 bedroom home.

Prominently featured on the entry wall, Viva Statale 9 is a Euro-chic distressed wood look tile.

Additional foundational surfaces featured in this home: Original Style City Range, Mosa Murals

Natural grays let true colors through

The brilliant selection of contrasting gray hues highlights colorful and lustrous glass tiles. The kids’ bathroom is decorated with several spicy mosaic tiles styles by Jasba. Each mosaic square in Jasba Colours has subtle shading, creating the effect of depth. Jasba Highlands is another square mosaic style; this series plays with natural hues found in the landscape.

The candy red kitchen backsplash from AlysEdwards – Kiss My Big Fat Glass series is an artistic representation of classic red bricks. In the bar area you’ll find cool blue-green Solistone Folia.
